Ferrous Credit | UK (Remote)
Marvin Agyei (Founder, Ferrous Management Group) is expanding his deal team and is seeking 2 Credit Origination Interns to support the launch of Ferrous Credit, a capital-aligned credit origination platform operating in the UK SME market.
Ferrous Credit focuses on sourcing, qualifying, and packaging high-quality SME lending opportunities for a small group of institutional lenders, using a disciplined, relationship-driven approach.
“Build Platforms | Think Long Term.”
That’s the philosophy behind this role.
This internship is focused on the front end of credit origination, not theoretical finance.
You will work alongside Marvin to help:
Research and map a small universe of institutional lenders (typically 5–8) and document their lending criteria (ticket size, sector focus, financial thresholds, documentation requirements)
Identify UK-based SMEs that may require debt capital for growth, working capital, or balance sheet optimisation
Conduct structured outreach to founders, Managing Directors, and finance leads
Hold initial qualification calls to gather key commercial and financial information
Maintain accurate records of lender criteria and borrower opportunities
Prepare clear summaries of qualified opportunities for senior review
Start Date - Feb 2026
This is a process-driven origination role with clear expectations, accountability, and feedback.
By working on live origination activity, you will gain exposure to:
How SME lending works in practice (cash-flow lending, invoice finance, asset-based lending)
How institutional lenders assess risk and deploy capital
What makes a lending opportunity financeable (and what doesn’t)
How disciplined origination differs from mass broking
How professional conversations with business owners are structured
You will not be expected to underwrite loans or provide advice.
Your role is to source, qualify, and document opportunities accurately and professionally.
Unpaid internship
Duration: 4 months (extendable to 6 months by mutual agreement)
Time commitment: approximately 2 days per week (remote)
Weekly 1–2 hour structured review session (Zoom) to review pipeline activity, feedback, and next steps
Outside of structured sessions, you will be expected to work autonomously following training and clear guidelines.
This role is suitable for individuals who:
Are studying (or have studied) finance, economics, accounting, or a related discipline
Are comfortable speaking with founders, MDs, and senior professionals
Are organised, consistent, and process-oriented
Are interested in private credit, lending, corporate finance, PE, or M&A
Want practical exposure to live deal origination rather than theory
A basic understanding of financial statements (revenue, profit, EBITDA) is expected. Advanced modelling experience is not required.
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
Prior exposure to private credit, SME lending, commercial finance, or corporate finance
Experience in screening, assessing, or qualifying business opportunities (often referred to as credit screening or initial deal screening)
Familiarity with how lenders evaluate opportunities, even at a high level
This experience is not essential, but candidates with relevant exposure will be prioritised.
This is a people-facing origination role.
Candidates must:
Be comfortable holding telephone and video conversations with business owners and senior operators
Communicate clearly and confidently in professional English
Be able to build rapport quickly, listen actively, and ask structured questions
Represent Ferrous Credit in a credible and professional manner at all times
How you communicate matters as much as what you communicate.
What This Role Is Not
This is not a classroom or academic programme
This is not a guaranteed route to employment
This is not a passive “shadowing” internship
Performance, professionalism, and execution matter.
Strong performance may lead to:
Extended responsibilities
Deeper involvement in origination activity
Potential longer-term opportunities within the Ferrous ecosystem
No outcomes are guaranteed, but performance is recognised.
