The Role

We’re looking for a Head of Data & AI to lead our data organization: a talented group of data engineers, data scientists, and analysts who turn data into business value.This role sits at the intersection of technology, strategy, and delivery. You will shape Monta’s data vision, evolve our modern data stack for scale, and make sure we get the maximum value from data across our internal operations and customer products. You’ll work closely with teams across Engineering, Product, and the Executive group to define and deliver data driven outcomes that move Monta forward.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high performing team of 6+ data professionals across engineering, science, and analytics.

  • Shape the vision and roadmap for data and AI at Monta, from foundational infrastructure to advanced machine learning applications.

  • Create measurable business value by helping teams make faster and more data-informed decisions.

  • Own the evolution of our data platform, building for scalability, performance, and reliability as our data volume and complexity grow.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and the C suite to deliver high-impact data initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of experimentation and learning, applying ML and AI where they create real outcomes and customer value.

  • Ensure governance, quality, and privacy standards for all data assets and pipelines.

  • AI: Mastra, Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic

  • Sources: MySQL, Postgres, Kafka, OpenSearch, ClickHouse and other operational systems

  • Visualization: Tableau and embedded analytics

We are evolving toward large scale data systems, modern streaming capabilities, and advanced AI/ML pipelines that support both internal teams and customer facing products.

What You Bring

  • Proven leadership experience in data engineering, analytics, or data science, ideally from a high growth or scale up environment.

  • A strong track record of building and leading multidisciplinary data teams.

  • Deep understanding of data architecture, pipelines, and governance, preferably using modern cloud based tools such as Snowflake and dbt.

  • Strategic mindset with a focus on delivery and stakeholder alignment; you know how to translate technical complexity into clear business outcomes.

  • Experience with machine learning and applied AI, from experimentation through to production deployment.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with everyone from engineers to executives.

  • A passion for mentoring, coaching, and building healthy team culture.

  • Bonus: Experience in energy, sustainability, or mobility industries.
