The Payroll Product team at Shine

Your role as a Payroll Product Expert

As a Payroll Product Expert, you are the payroll authority within the Dutch market. You ensure that our payroll product is legally compliant, accurate and future-proof.

You translate changes in Dutch payroll legislation and collective labor agreements into clear product requirements and configure these rules directly in our payroll backend system, in close collaboration with Product, Development, and Support teams.

All in all, you will act as the bridge between Support and Product, ensuring customer feedback and payroll realities are reflected in the product roadmap.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the domain expert for Dutch payroll

  • Monitoring changes in payroll legislation and take action accordingly

  • Implementing and maintaining payroll rules in our internal payroll system

  • Translating payroll and legal requirements into clear product tickets for the Product & Development teams

  • Testing new features and payroll calculations before release

  • Answering complex payroll questions from the Support team

  • Supporting with payroll expertise

  • Continuously improving payroll processes and product quality

🔎 About you

  • Native or fluent Dutch (mandatory)

  • Fluent English, spoken and written

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll administration

  • Recognized as a payroll expert (e.g. experienced payroll specialist)

  • Strong knowledge of Dutch payroll, HR, employment law,

  • Comfortable working with technical systems:

    • Able to configure payroll rules in a custom payroll backend we created ourselves (don’t worry we will onboard you to our system)

  • Precise, structured, and detail-oriented

  • Strong communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Proactive, reliable, and service-oriented

Nice to have:

  • Background in HR payroll, an accountancy or payroll service or product firm

  • Interest in building modern payroll systems rather than maintaining legacy tools

Team

  • You will work closely with:

    • 4 Support colleagues

    • 6 Product team members (developers)

  • You will act as the key-link between Support and Product
