Are you a talented developer with an entrepreneurial heart? Do you want to build a platform from the ground up and grow into a leadership role?
At Spuddle, we have evolved from a community of ~200,000 followers to building Duolingo for Microsoft Excel. Our mission is to eliminate "spuddling" (inefficiency at work) using gamified, interactive microlearning. We are looking for a sharp, hands-on technical talent to join our team and bring our MVP across the finish line, and continue building beyond it.
As a startup, we offer quick decisions, experimental freedom, and a clean slate to build your team. You’ll architect our technical foundation and stack. This is a "CTO-track" position. We don't expect you to have 10 years of management experience, but we expect you to have the drive to become a leader as the company scales.
We begin with milestone-based compensation. For the right profile, the goal is a long-term role with the opportunity for a significant equity stake as you grow with the company.
Your immediate focus is to bring our mobile app safely to market. You will act as the technical "anchor" for our current front-end team and take responsibility for our backend and deployment processes.
Our Tech Stack (The tools you’ll master and evolve):
Backend: TypeScript, Bun, and Hono.
Database: PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM.
Frontend: React Native & Expo.
Infrastructure: Google Cloud/Azure and Expo Application Services (EAS).
You might be a master’s student finishing your degree, a recent grad with a standout portfolio, or a developer with 1-2 years of experience who is ready to take the next step.
You bring a solid foundation in TypeScript and React Native, along with an eagerness to master backend logic and deployment. You solve problems before they’re assigned, leading by example. Furthermore, you are driven by a curiosity to tackle complex challenges like global scaling, latency, and cloud infrastructure.
We prioritize talent and mindset over a long CV. To apply, please send us:
Your CV (or a link to your GitHub/Portfolio).
A brief cover letter (6-10 lines) explaining why you want to build Spuddle and why you are ready to take on technical responsibility.
We look forward to meeting you!🙂
