FlavorScale is seeking an AI/Data Scientist Intern to join our "Engine Room." While the rest of the team is on the streets of Amsterdam, you are in the data—building the predictive models and recommendation engines that make our platform feel like magic. This is a Research-Based role for the student who wants to see their academic theories applied to real-world, high-velocity F&B data.
Most AI internships have you cleaning spreadsheets in a corner. We’re giving you the keys to our data architecture. You will work directly with the CTO and CEO to turn raw "Full-Flow" data into the industry’s most sophisticated discovery engine.
Background: Currently pursuing a degree (BSc/MSc) in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
The Mathematical Architect: You don't just "import libraries"; you understand the logic behind the models. You’re obsessed with finding patterns in the noise.
The Deep Researcher: You enjoy diving into academic papers and whitepapers to see how the latest LLM or recommendation system trends can be applied to "Taste" and "Discovery."
Data-Driven Storyteller: You can take a complex clustering model and explain to the CEO why it’s a game-changer for a restaurant owner in De Pijp.
Vibe: You are curious, rigorous, and tech-obsessed. You prefer a Jupyter Notebook over a spreadsheet and a "What if we tried this?" mindset over a "How do I do this?" one.
Flavor Modeling: Research and develop algorithms that quantify "taste" and "vibe," helping us build the world’s first truly personalized F&B recommendation engine.
Predictive Analytics: Analyze our partner data to build models that predict consumer trends, peak hours, and "next-big-thing" dishes before they go viral.
NLP & LLM Integration: Explore how we can use Large Language Models to scrape and sentiment-analyze thousands of reviews and menu descriptions into actionable insights.
Data Scoping: Work with the BDR team to identify what "Full-Flow" data points we should be capturing from restaurants to make our AI even smarter.
Strategic Tech Input: Participate in technical syncs to discuss the scalability of our data pipeline as we head toward the 2026 Q3 funding round.
This is a research-based internship that offers a technical masterclass in startup growth. While we cannot promise permanent positions—as our key hires depend on 2026/2027 investment cycles—this role is our Core Tech Pipeline. Successful interns who build a model that moves the needle will be top-of-mind for Lead Scientist roles as the company levels up.
Location: Remote-First (Netherlands residency preferred for periodic tech-syncs in Amsterdam).
Tech Stack: Proficiency in Python (and R) (Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow). Experience with SQL and API integrations is a major plus.
Status: This must be a formal internship as part of your degree.
Language: Fluent in English.
The "Science" Mindset: You are comfortable with ambiguity and have the patience to iterate on a model until it’s perfect.
