FlavorScale is seeking a Front-End Developer Intern to lead the visual and interactive evolution of our platform. In a world of cluttered apps, we are building something that feels like the future of the city. You aren’t just "slicing designs"; you are engineering the bridge between our complex data and the user's thumb.
Most internships give you a "UI kit" and tell you to stay in the lines—we’re giving you the canvas. You will work directly with the CTO and CEO to ship a world-class interface that defines our brand as we head toward the 2026 Q3 funding round.
Background: Currently studying Computer Science, Web Development, Interaction Design, or a related field.
The Pixel Perfectionist: You have a physical reaction to misaligned elements. You believe that a 404 page is an opportunity for branding and that micro-interactions are what make an app feel "premium."
The Bridge: You speak both "Design" and "Code." You can look at a Figma prototype and know exactly how to translate those shadows, blurs, and transitions into performant CSS/JS.
User-Obsessed: You don't just build for the sake of code; you build for the person standing on a rainy street in Amsterdam trying to find the perfect dinner spot.
Vibe: You are creative, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented. You’re likely the person who inspects the source code of every cool website you visit.
UI/UX Implementation: Turn high-fidelity Figma designs into responsive, lightning-fast components using modern frameworks.
State Management: Ensure that the user experience is fluid, handling complex data flows without the user ever seeing a "loading" spinner if you can help it.
Performance Optimization: Audit our front-end to ensure we are hitting "Green" on all web vitals. In the city, every millisecond of load time matters.
Prototyping: Rapidly build and test new interaction patterns to see how users respond to different ways of "discovering" food culture.
The Style Guide: Help us maintain and expand the FlavorScale Design System, ensuring our code is as modular and scalable as our vision.
This is a work-based internship that offers a Masterclass in Product Engineering. While we cannot promise permanent positions—as our key hires depend on 2026/2027 investment cycles—this is our Frontend Talent Pipeline. Successful interns who demonstrate an "owner" mindset and an eye for world-class UI will be top-of-mind for Lead Frontend roles as we scale.
Location: Remote-First (Netherlands residency preferred for periodic design sprints in Amsterdam).
Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React (or similar frameworks like Vue/Next.js). Mastery of modern CSS (Tailwind, Styled Components).
Status: This must be a formal internship as part of your degree.
Language: Fluent in English.
Portfolio: You have a GitHub or a portfolio site that shows you can build things that look and feel modern.
