Shine exists to help freelancers and small business owners reclaim the joy of working for themselves. Running a business shouldn't mean drowning in financial admin – it should be inspiring and rewarding. Our app brings banking, invoicing, accounting and admin together in one place, so entrepreneurs can focus on what matters most: growing their business and enjoying the freedom of working for themselves.

We're a multicultural team of over 400 people across France, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. By bringing together leading European fintechs like Shine, Kontist and Tellow, we've built a single, intuitive platform designed for simplicity, speed and accuracy, backed by local, award, winning support.

Your hiring experience matters Just as we respect our customers' time, we respect yours. Your experience with Shine should feel simple, transparent and genuinely supportive. If this sounds like somewhere you want to grow, we'd love to hear from you

The UX Research team at Shine

Our UX Research team is new — and that's actually kind of exciting. Born out of Shine's acquisition, we're a small but mighty group of four: two French researchers, one German Research Ops specialist, and Brigitte, our Head of UXR. We're in the middle of building something from the ground up — ramping up tooling and processes, running foundational research initiatives, and figuring out how to best support product trios across a global org that's still evolving.

Your role as Senior UX Researcher

We're looking for a Senior UX Researcher to join our product team and help us deeply understand the people we build for. This is not a traditional research role with a dedicated team doing all the research — we operate in a democratized research model, meaning you'll work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers who run their own research day-to-day. Your role is to make that possible, raise the quality bar, and take on the most complex research challenges yourself.

You'll be the go-to expert who enables the whole organization to build with evidence, not assumptions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading high-impact qualitative and quantitative research on ambiguous, strategic product questions — from discovery to insight to recommendation

  • Coaching and upskilling PMs, designers, and other team members on research methods, question design, and synthesis so they can run solid research independently

  • Serving as a sparring partner and quality reviewer for research across the org, keeping the bar high without slowing anyone down

  • Building and maintaining shared research infrastructure — templates, playbooks, a participant panel, and an insights repository — together with our Research Ops specialist

  • Championing a customer-centred culture across the org — from influencing product reviews and roadmap discussions to making sure research findings actually land and get used.

📍 Job located in Berlin, Amsterdam with possibility of two remote working days per week

About you

  • You have 6+ years of experience in UX or product research, ideally in a fast-paced product company, and you've worked in or helped build a democratized research model before

  • You have a strong product sense and can connect research findings to business and revenue KPIs

  • You're a mixed-methods researcher — strong in qualitative methods (in-depth interviews, usability testing, diary studies) and equally confident with quantitative approaches, including survey design, higher-volume studies, and tools like Mixpanel

  • You're a natural mentor and multiplier. You get energy from helping others grow, and you know how to raise quality without creating dependency

  • You can turn fuzzy business problems into sharp research questions, and complex findings into clear, memorable insights that actually influence decisions

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with tools like Marvin, Maze, Hotjar, Typeform or similar

  • Claude or similar AI skills relevant to speed up research

  • Background in a fintech, SME, or B2B product context
