Team & role overview

We're actually opening two positions on the team, at two different levels of seniority.

• One for an engineer with 2-4 years of experience and meaningful, production-scale work behind them.

• One for a more experienced engineer, with 4-6 years across one or two companies and a strong track record at production scale.

The Product API team

is the team behind the systems that turn billions of products into the fast, reliable data our users experience every day. You'll design and build high-performance backend services, push our web scraping and data pipelines to new scale, and help shape the architecture that keeps everything running smoothly as we grow. If you thrive on distributed systems, high-throughput data, and clean, performant code — and you like being the person others turn to in an architectural discussion — we would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

• Develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript

• Build and optimize advanced web scraping systems capable of handling billions of products daily

• Implement real-time data pipelines and stream processing solutions using Kafka

• Leverage in-memory caching with Redis to ensure extremely fast data retrieval and updates

• Work closely with our distributed NoSQL databases to handle large-scale data effectively

• Collaborate in a cross-functional team — taking an active part in architectural discussions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions

What we’re looking for 🌟

We imagine that you have:

• Strong expertise in Node.js and dependency injection frameworks such as NestJS

• Solid understanding and hands-on experience with PubSub/Kafka or other stream processing tools

• Proficiency in managing and optimizing NoSQL or SQL databases, with practical experience using Redis or other in-memory databases for caching

• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and microservices architecture

• Experience managing distributed systems and microservices at scale

It is further seen as an advantage to have experience with:

• Designing and implementing efficient web scraping systems

• MongoDB in production global / sharded use-cases

• Multi-cluster / multi-regional deployments and databases, or Vector Search use-cases

• AI applications at work — e.g. reviewer agents or similar

• High-performance applications dealing with high I/O scenarios
