Vores passion for film og ønsket om at give gæsterne mere end bare en film fik os til at tænke nyt. Vi savnede selv en biografoplevelse, hvor man kunne læne sig tilbage, nyde noget lækkert og fordybe sig – uden stress og stive sæder. Da vi oplevede, hvor ensartede og ufleksible mange biografer var blevet, besluttede vi at gøre noget ved det. Vi ønskede at bringe varme og personlighed tilbage til biografen – og gøre den til et sted, hvor man virkelig glemmer tid og sted.

The founder has been designing- making- selling- and marketing trawl doors for five decades. During development, trials in flumetanks, during trials at sea in several countries, mending things, back to tanks, back to sea and then produce the trawl doors using all his engineering and experience making the Ekkó trawl doors. We outsource our production and some other jobs. We are at our international stage and need to build up our team in management, sales, marketing, and service development. Gangverk is an icelandic word that literally means "that what makes stuff tick"​, originally coined for the machinery of clocks but in later times has taken over the connotation of whatever it is that keeps things operating smoothly underneath a polished exterior. We like to make stuff tick so we thought the name was a good match even though it's not the easiest word to pronounce for non-icelandic speaking peoples (a surprisingly large proportion of the world).
